According to MayanMajix.com, we begin the month of March in the Mayan Galactic Tone of "4" which represents "Stability", a welcome reprieve after last month's energy of ‘Duality'. The four directions give shape to form, and we feel this energy as spring arrives and new projects become more solidified. Aligned with March 1st is the Mayan Sun Sign of "Muluc" which represents "Offering", and is also known as the sign of water. Ritually, the Mayans used water as places of ceremony and purification, and we can follow that guidance to see that the ideas and thoughts and dreams we have planted that are now sprouting forth have been offered from the place of pure heart and vision within us.

We have a female friend who would like to come on the Mayan Cruise May 3-redHand10th - but needs a roommate! Call our group coordinator Helen Preston at (828)338-0165 right away if you want to come, there's still time to make your reservation!

Interested in the Mayan culture and seeing Mayan ruins? Be sure to read this month's Blog. This month you'll read about a Sojourn For The Soul, and I talk about walking ancient lands.

Connect This Month! Two events to be aware of on March 11th.... and our next group call is March 12th!

The Shekinah Sovereignty Circle.... A spiritual group that gathers monthly via telephone and shares wonderful insights and speakers. The call will be March 11th at 10pm EST/7pm PST, dial  #218-486-1600  and when prompted enter the access code 626717#.

Also on the 11h, an incredible gathering is taking place at a sacred site in Australia. The Grand Maya Itza Council, speaking in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico in November 2008 released the following information. "Every Full Moon we are going to make a spiritual journey to every one of the sacred sites on the list, starting our first ceremony on November 13, 2008, and continuing that way until carrying out the last ceremony on December 28, 2012, completing an initiatic cycle of 52 moons. The ancient Mayas used to make these spiritual journeys to the ancient ceremonial centers in order to activate all the sacred sites from all around the world. During the ceremony, both the ritual conductors as well as the whole humankind will be asked to keep their minds clear so that our understanding ability can be illumined and we can understand the wisdom of the universal intelligence."

Moon #5 - and site #5 is in BUNDOOMA AUSTRALIA and the Full Moon date(for that location) is March 11, 2009

March 12th at 8:00pm/EST: On this month's Group Call we'll talk about "Rebirth & Renewal" and I'll ask you to share what is bringing the energy of Renewal into your Life right now, and what spiritual practices are supporting your own Rebirth. Just call (712)775-7000 and then when prompted, enter access code 421902#. There's no cost for the call, just the usual minutes/charges - if any - from your phone provider....so share this with friends, and join us! You can e-mail me at any time about a topic or question to address during the call at

Energy Focus for the Month...FORTITUDE

For many around the country, this time of year is the hardest. Winter has dragged on for months, cold and snowy and bleak. For others, the resolutions set at the beginning of the year have fallen by the wayside and frustration has set in. We've heard from people who walked through the fire in December and January, and are just now feeling like they are coming out of the maelstrom they found themselves to be in.

In the March 9th issue of TIME magazine, we are told that even the Dalai Lama is growing weary of the struggle. "Even the Dalai Lama recently said he had "given up" on negotiating with the Chinese and hinted he might step down, fearing that his position "is only becoming an obstruction instead of helping find a solution to the Tibet issue."

Whatever your journey, and wherever your path takes you, March is a time for Fortitude - for re-dedicating yourself to the passionate ideas of change and growth and movement we all felt as 2009 was ushered in on a wave of tremendous energy. It only takes a small amount of action to create true change in our lives, our country, our world. This month, let us choose to dig our heels in all the more and stubbornly refuse to give in to fear, or illusion, or hopelessness. We can be the change we wish to see in the world. And it will take all of us to bring it into being.

TOOLS.... Re-Committing Yourself

Whatever practice you've been wanting to incorporate in your routine, do it now. Whether it is meditation, journaling, or a healthier diet, or exercise, take time this month to - as Nike says - Just Do It! It is time to strengthen ourselves, and our resolve to BE* - the very best we can be -  and if meditation, or journaling, or a healthier diet or exercise is all that we need to do, make a commitment to yourself this month and Do It! If you need help, check out this month's Gift at the bottom of this newsletter.

(*and, let me just add, that to be perfectly politically spiritually correct - is that an oxy-moron? - there really is nothing that you must do in order to BE.)

Affirmation for March:

I clearly see the path before me, and every step brings me closer to realizing my dreams and goals.

This Month, We Recommend...Spiritual Cinema Circle

"The brilliant documentary, HUMANITY ASCENDING, as noted visionary, Barbara Marx Hubbard, guides us to see through "evolutionary eyes" a unique and compelling vision of underlying patterns within nature that have gone unnoticed during the universe's history. She provocatively argues that these patterns have emerged unpredictably during previous times of planetary crisis, resulting in quantum leaps forward in life's evolution on earth. Our current global crisis is a danger, yes, but it can also be seen as the driving force behind yet another quantum evolutionary leap. Beautifully illustrated and engaging, Humanity Ascending places us on an evolutionary cusp, where an old world is dying and a new world is being born. Humanity Ascending ... this movie will change the way you view the world and your place in it, forever!"

HUMANITY ASCENDING is offered by Spiritual Cinema Circle, the only DVD service dedicated to films about love and compassion. Receive this film plus 3 great short films when you sign up for a free trial membership (for a nominal shipping fee) by clicking here now:

Did You Know? ....."The idea of daylight saving was first conceived by Benjamin Franklin (portrait at right) during his sojourn as an American delegate in Paris in 1784, in an essay, "An Economical Project." Standard time in time zones was instituted in the U.S. and Canada by the benjamin_franklinrailroads on November 18, 1883. Prior to that, time of day was a local matter, and most cities and towns used some form of local solar time, maintained by a well-known clock (on a church steeple, for example, or in a jeweler's window). The new standard time system was not immediately embraced by all, however. The first man in the United States to sense the growing need for time standardization was an amateur astronomer, William Lambert, who as early as 1809 presented to Congress a recommendation for the establishment of time meridians. This was not adopted, nor was the initial suggestion of Charles Dowd of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., in 1870. Dowd revised his proposal in 1872, and it was adopted virtually unchanged by U.S. and Canadian railways eleven years later. The use of standard time gradually increased because of its obvious practical advantages for communication and travel. Standard time in time zones was established by U.S. law with the Standard Time Act of 1918, enacted on March 19. Daylight Saving Time has been used in the U.S. and in many European countries since World War I. The plan was not formally adopted in the U.S. until 1918. 'An Act to preserve daylight and provide standard time for the United States' was enacted on March 19,
1918."

Sojourn For The Soul...

footprints in the sand photoHow many times have we been "called" somewhere, to some geographical locale, and the ego has thrown up a hundred reasons for us not to go? With busy lives, a full calendar, budget concerns, and too many logistics to take care of? Let's face it, we all have. Life is complicated, and frankly, the illusion is for most that it doesn't seem to be getting easier, despite our increased level of mastery. And yet, the soul is called, it is pulled, it longs to walk ancient pathways of remembrance in far distant locales. What is a person to do?

Maybe I'm the wrong one to ask, but I say, "Answer the call!" Even if it seems crazy, you gotta' go!@#$%^&

That's how it was for me, so many times before. In 1989, Egypt was my first visceral experience with a Soul Journey. For those of you who have read my book, you know the story. I was also "called" to the Yucatan the first time tin 1993, and traveled for two weeks, driving 1,000 miles and visiting ten Mayan sites. I went back with a spiritual group in 1995. Later that year, I was again "called" to Peru and Bolivia, visiting Machu Picchu and several sacred Incan sites. Other Soul Sojourns have included Hawaii, Greece, Scotland, Italy, Grand Canyon, Sedona....well, I could just go on forever! But I digress....

Last month, against all odds, we made a Soul Sojourn to the Yucatan. We went with a small delegation to our sister city of Valladolid (two hours from Cancun) and we went to continue my research for my next book.

Upon arriving our first night in Cancun, prior to picking up the group the next day, I found that my travel agent had reserved the same hotel I had stayed in with my spiritual family in 1995. Very Cool. Taking the wrong road out of the airport, we were ‘treated' to a real world view of Cancun, the outskirts and way of life there. Arriving in Valladolid, we were welcomed with open arms, dined with hosting families and feted at parties. My husband Russ made an impromptu presentation to their City Council (as former Mayor of Asheville) and spoke before a class of students in Public Administration at UNO - Universidad Norte Oriente - a new business school that we were very impressed with. We walked the streets of a 500 year old colonial city and saw magnificent historic churches, ate great tamales and drank cerveza and tequila and made great new friends. We also managed to visit two ancient cenotes' used by the Maya for ceremony. But I'm saving the best for last.

On the trip was George Stuart, who for 40 years was a staff archeologist in Meso-American  studies at National Geographic, founder of the Center for Maya Research in 1984 and recent author with his son of "Palenque-Eternal City of the Maya" published by Thames & Hudson in 2008. He gave a presentation at UNO, which we attended, and then guided us through the ancient site of Ek Balam, just 20 km north of Valladolid. George talked about the ancient Maya, their history, recent discoveries, and the site itself. He's been doing excavations in Mexico since the early 70's. An amazing career, and so much knowledge to impart. We climbed the tall pyramid only to draw in our breath in admiration for the carved temple and entrance at the top, unlike any other temple in the Mayan realm.

On our only other free day, Russ and I drove to Coba', a site I've always been "called" to, but had never visited. 67 square kilometers and tons of buildings, many unexcavated, thrilled us to no end. The pyramid there is one of the largest in the entire Yucatan, at over 130 feet high. One section of the site contains 8 carved stelae, which is pretty unusual to have so many ‘markers' in one place. A great ceremonial site. Our guide gave us so much information about the ancient Maya and trees and herbs they used. Very, very cool.

Lastly, leaving Coba' that day after hours walking this ancient site, we were greeted with a glorious rainbow that stretched across the road we were on. There were no rain-showers around, it simply appeared, right in front of us. I thought, ‘Someone must be very pleased with us'.

On this trip, as we have at so many other sacred sites around the world, we placed crystals in Cancun, Ek Balam, and Coba'.

Walking the land again, the land of the ancients, with which I feel such an incredible connection, anchored something deep within my soul. I came home and my next book rose to a new level of awareness and continuity. How many times have we been "called" somewhere, to some geographical locale, and the ego has thrown up a hundred reasons for us not to go? We put all the expenses on my company card, and went. I can't tell you how enriched, how blessed, we feel.

May you ‘listen' to the call of the Soul this month,

Namaste`
K.

*This was written as ‘His' for brevity and simplicity, I could just as easily have written ‘Hers' , ‘Its', ‘Source's', ‘Creators', etc.

It’s In The Stars For March

galaxy photo

Happy Birthday Pisceans AND Arieans! It's the time of year when we leave winter behind and embrace spring, and we can also feel pulled at the seams as Pisces rules the feet and Aries rules the head! The Sun entered Pisces on the 18th, and it remains there until the Vernal Equinox which we usher in on March 20th at 7:44 am/EST when the Sun enters Aries.

The keyword for Pisces is "I Believe", and under the influence of this watery sign, our lives can seem like its symbol, two fish swimming in a great ocean (ruled by Neptune) in opposite directions and not seeing one another. Sure, I have days like that! Don't you? Aries, on the other hand, will feel like a breath of fresh air, as Aries' keyword is "I Am" and is ruled by the active planet Mars. This month we embrace movement and action, and our winter respite has prepared us for this forward energy.

With the Equinox aligning us this month, I have to take a moment and talk about ancient calendars. There are examples of sacred sites all over the world where ancient cultures constructed pyramids, ceremonial buildings, cairns and monoliths aligned with major planetary orbits and the celebration of equinox and solstices. One of my favorites is in the Yucatan of Mexico. At the well known site of Chichen Itza, each year at the spring and fall equinox, pilgrims are given the sight of the Feathered Serpent Quetzalcoatl descending the great pyramid of Kukulkán in the central square. The Mayans, who created the most accurate calendar of any society, literally built their calendar into this great ‘wonder of the world'. According to the website mayasites.com, "On the days of spring and fall equinox, the edge of the shadow from the sun, falls exactly on the corner of the pyramid, leaving one side in total sunlight and the other in total shadow. Furthermore there is a shadow running down the north staircase taking the form of a snake; hence the carved snakeheads at the bottom of the staircase as well as the pyramid's Mayan name Kukulkán, the plumed serpent god."

Enjoy this Spring Equinox photo of Chichen Itza courtesy of  http://www.mayasites.com/equinospring_equinox_at_chichen_itzax.html  .

Perhaps they possessed a deeper wisdom of their place in the cosmos through their connection with the Earth and Sun. The ancients knew that they were part of a larger cycle, not just of seasons and years  - but of planets and galaxies and thousands of years.
