In March, we naturally think of new life with the coming of Spring.....in gardens everywhere crocus and hyacinth and daffodils and tulips are bursting out of the ground.......this new life sprouting forth from the earth helps erase the feelings of barrenness we sometimes experience in our spiritual journey, and creates a path for the ideal of ‘new abundance'. In springtime, we feel a new energy and enthusiasm bursting forth with every bloom we see, reminding us each day that anything is possible. We live in a miraculous world.....it is time we embrace the belief that miracles can occur in our own lives....if we only allow them to happen.

The Mayan Sun Sign for the first day of March is "Jaguar (Balam * Ix)" and is "directly tied to the source of all earth Magic. Jaguar energy is feminine in nature, and is the ruling spirit of jungles, plains and mountains. The spirit of Jaguar inhabits Mayan Temples, and is called on to assist in spiritual as well as material ways. Jaguar is also the god/goddess of gratefulness."

The Mayan Galactic Tone for the first day of March is a "Five" and is representative of "Empowerment". A welcome change from the chaotic energy many of us experienced in February, this tone in the numeric of Five is an "intelligent, organizing force which manages communications and materials, knowledge and application." Did You Know? At the well known Mayan site of Chichen Itza, in the northern Yucatan peninsula of Mexico, at the spring and fall equinox each year pilgrims are given the sight of the Feathered Serpent Quetzalcoatl descending the great pyramid of Kukulkán in the central square. Chichen Itza is an incredible ancient site, one I have visited three times and never tire of exploring.

The Mayans, who created the most accurate calendar of any society, literally built their calendar into this great ‘wonder of the world'. Four sides of 91 steps each lead skyward, toward a central platform, to equal 365. There are nine corners on each of the sides of the pyramidspring_equinox_at_chichen_itza face formed by the platforms, and 9 was one of the key fractals in their harmonic calendrical numbering. The 52 concave panels represented a calendar round of 52 solar years.

According to the website mayasites.com, "On the days of spring and fall equinox, the edge of the shadow from the sun, falls exactly on the corner of the pyramid, leaving one side in total sunlight and the other in total shadow. Furthermore there is a shadow running down the north staircase taking the form of a snake; hence the carved snakeheads at the bottom of the staircase as well as the pyramid's Mayan name Kukulkán, the plumed serpent god."

Energy Focus for the Month...BIRTH
As the Sun enters the first sign of the zodiac on the Spring Equinox, we have the opportunity to renew our commitment to new ideas and the seeds of our dreams and desires. This is a starting point, a birthing from within. Nature reflects this miracle outwardly, we have the opportunity now to connect with this energetic shift inwardly and harness the timing of this internal shift to our best advantage.

Affirmation for March

Beloved Source of All That Is, My Desire And Intention With Each Breath I Take, Is To Be Reborn In The Image Of Radiant Perfection That Is My Divine Birthright

Blog                              Healing in the Aftermath of the Storm
footprints in the sand photo

We are fully in the flow of 2010, and be it last week, or last year, many I speak with are still feeling the effects of storms in their lives. This winter has certainly been one for the record books, and memories are far from distant for those who have experienced life altering changes. We see vivid, haunting pictures of destruction in Concepcion', Chile, even as the memory of Haiti is fresh in our minds. We can't help but wonder, why must destruction occur on such a massive scale, in order for new growth to occur?

Driving along our mountainous road mentioned before in this column, we are reminded of one recent storm that left us without power for three days. Perhaps two dozen trees came down. Large, solid trees with what we believed were firm foundations. How many of us have felt ‘uprooted' recently as we walk this path of awakening? As I look at the trees, it reminds me that many must feel as they do....torn, raw, exposed, jutting jagged edges with open gaping wounds.

This cycle in nature is mirrored as we reach for the signs of spring after such harshness and adversity: robins bounding on the ground in search of wiggly food, daffodils pushing out from frozen ground, the change in how the air smells. Arriving none too soon after bitter winds, below normal temperatures and what looked like the punishing brutal nature of Nature. Except for those of you too far south or west to be touched by any of this!

When we look at what is happening around the world, these times force us to examine our priorities, to treasure what is truly precious, and let go of the rest. We develop an inner resolve and greater determination. We strengthen our will as we affirm our dreams and goals. We know what waits for us. We can feel these seeds planted before first frost just waiting to burst forth from the ground, into our lives. Our heart races, we feel like children on Christmas Eve as we await those first blooms, the crocus that laugh at snow and push ahead regardless of the obstacles. These mirrors speak to us.

And to those faced with the prospect of rebuilding their lives, their homes, their communities, I envision the image of the Phoenix, and new life rising up out of the destruction. The Phoenix is a symbol of Hope, and the promise that from devastation and death, the path is opened to rebirth.

That is the message that nature teaches us, with the passing of winter and coming of spring, as new buds replace barren limbs, nurturing green is born from sterile white, and hope for new life is seeded in our consciousness.

Let us all support the energy of rebirth through our prayers and intentions, not just for ourselves, but for the global community and those in need of Hope.

Namaste',
Karon

It’s In The Stars For March

The water element of Pisces flows into the fiery positivity of Aries this month as the Sun enters the sign of the Ram on the 20th, the Vernal Equinox. We will all appreciate the forceful energy of Aries, as we put our heads down and forge through any obstacles on our path. Your keyword, "I Am", lays a framework for deeply seating the beliefs we focused on last month in Pisces.

On March 10, we finally feel movement in projects that have been on hold since December, as Mars moves direct after being retrograde in Leo for the last two months. Since Mars rules Aries, we feel an energetic push in the right direction.

Hurray! Daylight Savings time arrives on the 14th, which figuratively and literally means more light in our lives. The New Moon on the 15th occurs in Pisces, the start of the lunar cycle that will seed new beginnings. During this period, the Moon conjuncts the Sun, and it is generally seen as a harmonious influence with Pisces bringing deeper spiritual meaning.

As noted earlier in the Mayan article above, the Sun enters Aries on the 20th at the Vernal Spring Equinox. A day of equal light and dark, many indigenous cultures celebrated this as the first day of the year, as the Sun moves into the first zodiac sign. The Full Moon occurs this month on March 29th in Libra, the great balancer. And the planets will need that balance, looking at the Moon's relationships that day: it opposes the Sun and Uranus, conjuncts Saturn, sextiles Mars and squares Pluto. I'm just gonna say it could be a wild and wooly day. But it doesn't stop there.

Many astrologers are saying this year is one of the most active planetary years we've had in decades. Consider these words from Astrologer Laurie Baum. "To give you an idea of the magnitude of the planetary pyrotechnics in 2010, there will be more than 20 powerful planetary alignments concentrated in the late spring and summer, involving Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto. This celestial phenomenon is called "The Cardinal Climax." In a normal year, only a handful of powerful planetary alignments occur - and they are spread throughout the year rather than concentrated in a few-month span."

Hence the wild and wooly reference. That Milky Way Planet dance affects us earthlings too, so it behooves us to go about our creation process as intelligently and informed as possible. We can be more focused, more aware of our thoughts and intentions, and find time to go within and listen to the stillness.
