We are feeling a change in energy that has accompanied the change in weather. While the cooler breezes of fall begin blowing through our lives, by tuning in to nature we once again learn the lesson of letting go as the trees let go of their leaves. We learn Harvest with the annual full moon this month and bringing in of the fruits of the land. And we learn preparation for a season of introspection as winter approaches and we naturally turn inward and look to the potential of a New Year.
October arrives with the energy of the Mayan Galactic Tone of "10" which is representative of "Manifestation", referenced from the MayanMajix.com website's daily Tzolkin calendar. I provide an overview of the Mayan Galactic Tone and Mayan Sun Sign as a way of framing our understanding of the currents of energy that will be active in our lives over the course of October. As you can imagine, there are many, and they are diverse!
To continue..."What were once intentions or ideas, hopes or fears become physically present with the energy of Ten. What is focused upon with attention and intention becomes real with Ten. Ten is a powerful energy that carries a great responsibility." As discussed in this space previously, the Maya kept many different calendars. The Tzolkin is the sacred ritual calendar used in conjunction with their solar calendar called The Haab, and dates back to the beginning of the Maya culture, and many believe was used by civilizations in the region before the Maya rose to prominence."
The Mayan Sun sign for October 1st is "Night (Akbal)", and is particularly appropriate when considered with the Galactic Tone of "Manifestation", and the energetic season we find ourselves experiencing. "Akbal" represents "Bringers of the Dawn. Dreamers who bring the new Sun to clarify and illuminate the road of life. Thus the insecurity and doubts born of darkness of the sub-conscious mind are dispelled". Within this "void, a place where nothing yet exists but all potential dwells" we find "the womb of creation".
Speaking of creation, this month's Harvest Full Moon occurs in the sign of Aries, the first sign of the zodiac and is representative of the sprouting seed, the beginning point for creation!

Also on the 4th, an incredible gathering is taking place at a sacred site in the YucatanPeninsula of Mexico (and I will be there etherically!). If you are new to receiving my newsletter, each month I report on a site where a sacred ceremony will be performed by the Maya.
The Grand Maya Itza Council, speaking in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico in November 2008 released the following information. "Every Full Moon we are going to make a spiritual journey to every one of the sacred sites on the list, starting our first ceremony on November 13, 2008, and continuing that way until carrying out the last ceremony on December 28, 2012, completing an initiatic cycle of 52 moons. The ancient Mayas used to make these spiritual journeys to the ancient ceremonial centers in order to activate all the sacred sites from all around the world. During the ceremony, both the ritual conductors as well as the whole humankind will be asked to keep their minds clear so that our understanding ability can be illumined and we can understand the wisdom of the universal intelligence."
Moon #12 - and site #12 is in Chichen Itza, Mexicoand the Full Moon date is October 4, 2009

Energy Focus for the Month...THE VOID Last month we felt the energy of "Completion" in many areas of our lives. This set the stage for the blank canvass that presents itself to us this month. As we experience an aspect of Spiritual Harvest, so it leaves us open for the beginning of a new creation, and as we all know from Genesis, and from what science tells us about the Big Bang, it all began in the Void. This month, I invite all of us to be more mindful of the energy in which we are creating this new image of our experience from this point forward. Check out this month's Gift(below) for a framework to guide your path.
Affirmation for October from Swami Sivananda Radha, and her book "Mantras: Words of Power", as published in the 12 Keys, page 128.....The Divine Light Invocation Mantra.....
"I am created by Divine Light. I am sustained by Divine Light. I am protected by Divine Light. I am surrounded by Divine Light. I am ever growing into Divine Light."
Did You Know?
The history of Chichen Itza (the site of this month's Maya ceremony on the 4th) as with many aspects of Mayan history is obscure: Written records are scarce. In the historical records which do exist, dates that were several years apart were often given the same name, due to the organization of the old Mayan calendar. Roughly all sources agree that from approximately 550 AD to 800 AD, Chichen Itza existed mainly as a ceremonial center for the Maya civilization. The area was then largely abandoned for about a hundred years (no one knows the reason ), to be resettled around 900 AD again. Shortly before 1000 AD, it was invaded by a people from the north ( the Toltecs ). The Toltecs had settled near modern-day Mexico City at Tula, around 900 AD under the rule of a king Topiltzin. Topiltzin also took the name of "Feathered Serpent," or Quetzalcoatl, the name of an Aztec god. A rival warrior faction forced Topiltzin Quetzalcoatl and also his followers out of Tula around 987 AD. Mayan historical sources mention that a man who called himself Kukulkan arrived in Chichen Itza from the west (Kukul means "feathered" and kan means "serpent") in the period that ended in 987 AD. A strong case has been made that Kukulkan and Topiltzin Quetzalcoatl were most likely the same person, and that he brought the Toltec practices and beliefs to Chichen Itza, including the practice of human sacrifice. The Toltecs were somewhat open to new ideas, however, at Chichen Itza incorporating some beliefs held by the Maya already. The city is divided into two different principal areas: Chichen Viejo (Old Chichen) and Chichen Nuevo (New Chichen). Chichen Viejo was founded about 400 AD. by the Maya and then governed by priests. The architecture of this area is characterized by many representations of the god Chaac, the Maya rain god. Old Chichen (Chichen Viejo) is situated in the south of Las Monjas, and is open only for archaeologists.
It dawned on me the other day why everyone moves into ‘declutter-organize-and-clean- out' mode this time of year. When the leaves start dropping, we feel the beckon call of nature to let go and lighten our load. Subconsciously, every leaf that wafts down in front of us reminds us of the judgments we have buried, the pain we have held on to, the disappointments suffered, and the weight we have carried to this point in our year. No wonder we might feel like hopping a plane to Hawaii with just the clothes on our back! Ok, maybe that's just me.
The point is that Fall reminds us of the freedom that awaits us if we would only lay our burdens down. The vibrant colors of red, orange and yellow hues reflect those areas in our bodies that are affected by this heaviness: the lower three chakras, Root-Red, seat of passion and manifestation; Naval-Orange, seat of the emotional body, and Solar Plexus-Yellow, seat of our power. This desire to clean out is representative of our deeper desire to cleanse the energy of these important centers in our bodies thereby enabling us to enter into this new period of Harvest and future seed planting in a more en-‘lightened' state.
The ancients knew what we are just figuring out. That powerful shifts and energetic alignments occur at this time of year, and we feel their effects on many levels. How we integrate these energies in our lives is dependent upon our mindfulness and presence in the moment. The recent shift on 9/9/9/ was highlighted in my newsletter last month and coordinated with a meditation I provided to subscribers. It is interesting to me that my guidance led me to a vision of light coming down and penetrating our multidimensional selves, as we are by nature physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and etheric beings.
It was only after crafting that message and receiving the meditation that I came upon the photo that I shared with you of the shaft of light penetrating the spiral petroglyph known as the Sun Dagger at Chaco Canyon. I believe there is a correlation there for us to see if we look deeper. Carved in stone a thousand years ago is the wisdom that we have the opportunity to let go and cleanse the many layers of our being through the integration of Light.
Perhaps there are days when you just don't feel like it. I understand. Sometimes this whole awakening business feels like a lot of work and our batteries are running on empty. Not to worry, just take some time out to rest and re-charge. Heck, even Angels need to take a break now and then, beautifully illustrated by my friend Kat McIver's clay sculpture "Home from the Soaring".
Just for today, take your wings off and rest a while.
Namaste',
Karon
I highly recommend using Essential Oils and Aromatherapy for a healthier, more balanced life. You can find out more information on the use of Young Living Essential Oils in the Reference section of The12Keys.com
Thank God Libra's Birthday is here! We could all use a little balance and beauty in our lives, couldn't we? Librans are all about balance, and with ruling planet Venus, the harmonizing and peacemaking influence is a welcome respite for us right now.
Mercury is now in direct motion (thankfully!) and Jupiter goes direct on the 12th, leaving only Uranus and Neptune in retrograde. We celebrate the Harvest Full Moon on the 4th in the sign of Aries, which is representative of the sprouting seed and beginning of creation as the first sign of the zodiac. The Mayan Sacred Site activation takes place this day at Chichen Itza, Mexico, and be sure to check out the Mayan Galactic Tone and Sun Sign sourced at the beginning of this newsletter, because you can see the correlation.
The New Moon graces us in cool October nights on the 18th in Libra, which should make for some really wonderful meteors during the Orionids Meteor showers on the 21st as there will be little moonlight to spoil the show. The Sun enters Scorpio on the 23rd this month, and true to its nature, Scorpio helps align us with a stronger sense of purpose.
Mars, the planet of action, has been somewhat subdued in the watery sign of Cancer since the 25th of August. It moves into the fiery sign of Leo on the 16th , and as a complement of Venus, and ruler of both Aries and Scorpio, we will feel a more pronounced sense of desire and action moving in our lives through the end of the year!
Just days ago we witnessed the tremendous action of Uranus, planet of violent and powerful impact as it was expressed in the watery sign Pisces, said to be ruler of the oceans, through the earthquake and resultant tsunami that struck the area of Samoa and American Samoa. Last month I mentioned the relationship of Uranus in Virgo as being one that is expressed in the "context of cleansing and disintegration", and the fact that this relationship was in opposition to Saturn in Virgo, creating an atmosphere of "tremendous change through destruction". The more we understand the influence of the planets and their energies in our lives, the more we can integrate their teaching in our individual and collective experience. Let us all remember to be in prayer for areas of the world undergoing dramatic change and release.
This Month's Gift...The Five Mindfulness Trainings by Thich Nhat Hanh
To Quote ...."To practice the Five Mindfulness Trainings is to cultivate the insight of interbeing, or Right View, which can remove all discrimination, intolerance, anger, fear, and despair. If we live according to the Five Mindfulness Trainings, we are already on the path of a bodhisattva. Knowing we are on that path, we are not lost in confusion about our life in the present or in fears about the future."
