We dive further inward this month, giving us the chance to acclimate to the powerful new energies we are all feeling. Frozen seeds lay dormant and yet the excitement of new possibilities can be felt as our hearts beat to a new vibration pulsing from the heart of the Universe. The Chinese New Year on February 14th ushers in the Year of the Tiger as we focus consciousness on the nature of Love right on the heels of a New Moon.
February arrives in the Mayan Sun Sign "Transformer" as we move deeper in to the 6th night of the Galactic Cycle. Also called "Keme*Cimi", this sign represents cyclical energy, the" cycle of life, death and rebirth." Expect the continued energy of Transformation to show itself in many ways to you this month.
The Mayan Galactic Tone for the first day of the month, and which sets the tone for February is "3" also known as Action. 3 represents "basic movement and communication, and which begins as a vibration." Each full moon, the Maya are performing ceremonies at sacred sites all over the world, completing an initiatic cycle of 52 moons that will culminate with the last ceremony on December 28, 2012. Blog: My, How Things Have Changed!
Almost twenty years ago I made the leap of faith to move to the mountains here in Asheville, North Carolina. In my pocket was $200. that had to go a long way. In my car were two business suits and (10) copies of my resume'. As I look back at where I've come from, in preparation to take another leap, it amazes me how much things have changed.
In 1990, I lived in a small town nearby and drove 30 miles to and from work each day. A small BP gas station was conveniently on the way, and a handful of native farmers used to gather in the mornings for a cup of Joe and to swap stories. One morning I walked in, dressed in my skirt and heels, and received one of the nicest compliments ever given. This fellow, in his over-alls and cap, said "Miss, you got sparkle a-plenty". And that day, I did feel sparkly.
The mountains called me here with a mission. I was going to build a healing and meditation retreat. Along with way, I found my soul's passion and my service to Awakening. I also came into the knowledge that we each carry the healing center with us, everywhere we go.
Fast forward twenty years. Still recovering from the fracture to my left foot which occurred in July, I occasionally limp when I step on it wrong until the kinks get worked out. Walking into the post office, noticeably limping and favoring that foot, an elderly mountain man held the door open for me, commenting with a smile, "If you was a horse, we'd hafta' shoot ya'!"
It wasn't hard for me to see the humor in it, and I laughed with my husband about it, and told the story at our Kiwanis meeting that same day. But my goodness! How things have changed! I'd gone from being sparkly to being called a lame horse in twenty short years!
Even so, in the bigger picture, something hadn't changed. There was a constancy of purpose I could feel, an intrinsic part of my core. And here I was getting ready to take another leap of faith on a project I could feel at many levels was something I was destined for. A larger aspect of my mission was beckoning to me now, limping or sparkly, dressed in a suit or jeans, it didn't matter.
What matters is what we feel in our heart, and were I to be asked, I would say that we are all, each one of us, exactly where we are supposed to be. Poised on the threshold of something grande and glorious that we have all written to be a part of, a story so incredible, it has taken 15 billion years to play out.

We embrace the energy of Pisces when the Sun moves into your sign on the 18th. Happy Birthday! Pisces rules the feet, one of the reasons the energetic focus for the month is about Momentum. Pisceans key word is "I Believe", and your emotional, watery nature is emphasized by your ruling planet Neptune. Pisces' influence this month will really be felt as we move our dreams and desires from a thought to a feeling in order to bring them into the plane of manifestation. If you were born under this sign, you are compassionate, have a great imagination, and possess strong intuition.
We began this month under the influence of two planets strongly opposing each other, with Saturn squaring Pluto, and even though we feel the struggle, we also have the opportunity to experience growth through this process. The Aquarius New Moon on the 13th brings a greater focus on the public welfare, in keeping with the outpouring of compassion and assistance for the country of Haiti and its people. Aquarius is ruled by Uranus, and with this particular New Moon, the issues of freedom abound, and many of us are looking at the illusory bonds we feel are holding us back.
Interestingly, several planets move into Pisces this month, which to me, means that we move more fully into the energy of ‘Believing". Venus, Jupiter and Uranus all bring their motion into that aspect this month. I find it even more interesting that Uranus(which rules Aquarius and the ‘Mental Body') spends the year in Pisces, and as all these planetary alignments occur, we are being called into a more forceful experience. Instead of ‘knowing' something on a mental level, we are being called to ‘feel' it and ‘BELIEVE' it on much deeper levels. And so soon into the year, which has to resonate with you that this is a fabric that will color our experience throughout 2010. Last month we noted that Neptune - the planet which rules the ocean symbolizing our Emotions - spends the year in Aquarius, typically symbolizing the Head. Maybe this is the year that these two forces find balance?
Mars remains Retrograde in Leo throughout February, as Jupiter does as well in Libra. There is a balancing act taking place in this planetary dance. The forcefulness of Leo and Mars seeking their equilibrium, and expansive Jupiter finding its limits and balance in the sign of Libra, the scales. Perhaps the Full Moon on the 28th in Virgo allows us the time to analyze what has occurred this month, and from that framework of what is working or not, move forward in more meaningful ways to what is right, and true, and resonant with each of us.
My research for this column each month has me looking at many different perspectives to bring a higher awareness of the relationship we have with the planets, and how they affect our experience. One astrologer, Maurice Fernandez, recently published an article "Time of Radical Shift: A Look Into The Coming Cycle."
In it he said, "As astrologers we are aware of cycles that affect our existence; because this coming cycle is very unique, I feel it is important to share this information. I will try to keep it simple and not burden you with a long text and excessive details. There are multiple planetary bodies that are gradually forming a very particular and rare alignment. This configuration began to form during the fall of 2008. Politically, that time was when the economical crisis exploded and when US president Barack Obama was elected. The configuration will move into a second phase during November 2009 and January/February 2010. (Saturn will move into the Cardinal sign of Libra and will form powerful angle to Pluto in Capricorn)...The third phase is probably the most dramatic and intense, and will occur from the end of June to the end of July 2010, when all the factors of the configuration will align together in a cross at the very beginning of Cardinal signs in astrology. (Cardinal signs are the signs of new cycles. The planets in questions are Pluto, Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars. These planets are slow moving bodies and therefore it is absolutely exceptional that these slow moving bodies end up all aligned in a cross on these very sensitive degrees!"
He continues reflecting on how this will affect all of us, and the one keyword is CHANGE. "In normal circumstances, some people go through changes while others continue their routine. Here the alignment is so strong and dramatic that everyone's life can be considerably affected... it is likely that your life will not be the same by fall 2010! The question that often arises is:" Is it bad, or is it good?" The answer is that it depends on the way one deals with the events; a conscious approach can make a difference. One thing for certain: do not expect security, consistency, and predictability during this time. Reality is bound to change fast and so it is better to move with the flow, while remaining conscious of what is going on. Flexibility is one of the most important assets during this time. This influence is analogous to a gigantic wave forming...you can ride on that wave and go farther than ever expected -experience a powerful transformation that can elevate you to new grounds. But this wave can also destroy a lot of what you are currently attached to. Redefinition may occur in different fields: you may change vocation, relationships, location, mindsets, to name but a few. New people will move into your life, current ones may leave. New ideas and projects will develop and you may feel inspired to completely reinvent yourself! The cards are re-shuffled! This is a time of an awakening, a revolution...an internal and social revolution. Everything is shaking up... everything...from November 2009 until August 2010, nothing will stay still. It can be very good, but you have to learn to navigate these changes and seize opportunity when it comes."

Support your friends and family, we all shall need one another for support during this
transition time.
Cultivate your spiritual practice: this is also important for your immune system.
Do your best to do good: whatever you seed now will have effect now and later."
What we see for this year, as I indicated in my January newsletter, is that this truly is a year of Destiny and we will all feel powerful energies of transformation moving through our lives and relationships. How we utilize and direct those energies is completely up to us. My desire is to provide you with as much information as possible, and hopefully, some tools along the way.
